6 ways to enjoy your holiday in the Cairngorms this Autumn

We’re so lucky to live in an area that is striking in beauty throughout the year, but we think Autumn is particularly special in the Cairngorms National Park. Let us tell you the best ways to see what Badenoch and Strathspey have to offer.

By Air

Zip through the spectacular Scottish pine forest on Alvie Estate and surround yourself with the abundance of colours that this season has to offer. The Zip Trek Park, just south of Aviemore, gives you exhilarating aerial rides with some awesome bird’s eye views – although sometimes you’ve to be quick to spot them!

On Foot

The whole area has so many gorgeous trails to explore on foot. Daunder alongside stunning lochsides, crunch through the fallen leaves, hike past the beautiful purple heather, climb our mountains for adventure and amazing views, or find any one of our many all-ability trails and soak up benefits from spending time in our luscious countryside.

By Bike

From Laggan to Glenlivet and everywhere in between, the Cairngorms National Park has tracks aplenty for those who prefer to travel on two wheels. The undulating terrain and roads, and ever-changing weather, can make for an exciting itinerary whether you bring your road, mountain, touring or fat bike!

On Water

Our breathtaking scenery is showcased on the water itself. The stillness and serenity of the lochs are counter-balanced with the rapid and exhilarating rivers. Whether you opt to canoe, gorge walk, wind surf or paddle-board, there is an activity to suit every ability and mood. Look up from the lochs to the views of the mountains and forests as they change from luscious green and purple to snow-capped peaks. As a starting point, equipment and instruction are available from Loch Insh Watersports

By Train

The Strathspey Steam Railway is an historical gem – with return trips from Aviemore to Boat of Garten and Broomhill (near Nethy Bridge) the train offers a nostaligic way to travel through the valley. Hop on and off at the three stations and explore from a new starting point – not forgetting to take a snap at Broomhill – featured as Glenbogle in the hit TV series ‘Monarch of the Glen’.

With Alpacas

Yes, we have alpacas in the Cairngorms… and they make the cutest companions on a wee trek!!

There you have it – six ways to enjoy your Autumn holidays in the Cairngorms National Park. Have you booked your next break away?
