Avielochan Cottages are perfectly situated for those who love a dram or two. Within an hour’s drive you can visit many a distillery – from Dalwhinnie and Speyside to Tomatin, from Cardhu to Macallan and the rest of the Malt Whisky Trail offerings… there is an abundance of tastings available nearby.
A day trip could easily take you slightly further afield to Royal Lochnagar in Ballater, on the east side of the Cairngorms National Park, or to the likes of Talisker on the Isle of Skye.
Many of the distilleries offer tours and tastings, putting temptation in the way to ensure you return to base with a few of your favourite tipples to enjoy after dinner by the warmth of the fire.
All distilleries are currently closed until COVID restrictions relax and you’re able to join us for holidays once again.
With the government advising against foreign travel for the foreseeable future, it is likely that staycations in the UK will be popular.
